It's at http://pages.zoom.co.uk/pcmftp/

But can I point out, just for the record, that I barely understand any of it? As someone said: "in-jokes so in, I don't get them -- and I'm in them".

Finally, just to complete your set, have this -- the first, "unpublished" "beta version" of TVGH -- which conclusively proves it's never been as unfunny as it used to anti-be:

So TV Go Home is surely running out of steam, what amazing new project is next Charlie? An hilarious parody on the Yellow Pages perhaps?

-P

-Plumbers

-Cunt & Son Plumbers

Cunt & Son are overpriced fat lazy stinking plumber cunts, who will come round your house when you're fucking toilet is blocked, creating an ubarably putrid stink that you need to be rid of just hours before the bank manager arrives for important mortgage negotiations, and will sit there tinkering around with a relatively simple piece of pipe work for hours, with their big fat overbearing arse crack burning its unholy image into your retina, throughout which they will tell you such incredibly inciteful tid-bits as "`Cor, I dunno what's been goin' on `ere Guvnah, this'll really costa ya.." and "Lessav another cup `o tea, Luv", while secretly breaking important bits of drainage mechanism while you're not looking, just so they can charge you a fucking shitload for the cheap fucking overpriced wank they have in the back of their fucking plumber cunt van, the fucking fat cunting fuck plumber cunts!

Or maybe an hilarious parody of Loot?

Computers

Computer for sale: Vague computer for sale, it's a PC we think, maybe a Pentium something or other, we're not quite sure, but we know it works, well, we say we do, but it actually doesn't, but we'll insist it does when you've travelled almost 80 miles to come and pick the fucking thing up, and will be so pissed off by the cheap piece of fucking shite you've come all this way for, and we will insist it is worth £500, even though it's about 8 years old and discoloured by the sheer amount of nicotine we exhale onto it and tea we've spilt on the keyboard, but you buy anyway because of the forceful presence of being in this bastard family's stupid fucking council house and don't want to leave empty handed, then when you get it home you discover it's fucking worthless anyway and just leave it languishing in the corner of the spare room, maybe you could advertise it Loot and con some gullible cunt into buying the piece of shit, yeah, that's what you can do, fucking cunt.

Tee Hee, am I cult website comedian now? No? Perhaps I should let people send in their stuff to me so I can take all the credit and put vague credits on the bottom of my material so people won't know who really did it and attribute all the shite on my page to me, or put people's last names down as long as they have a similar name to a famous comedian so as to insinuate people to think it's him even when it isn't, so they think I'm a big shot and appreciated by talented people too, then maybe I can write pointless columns in Loaded and the Guardian next to Chris Morris' next legacy pissing.

I forgot to type in a password rather than my name as usual.

I'm completely indifferent to Charlie's 'come back', the parody I made was making a point, as did the Corpses' 'Charlie Go Home' parody, it's not really meant to be that funny, it's making lots of really good points.

Charlie's little cartoon appears to be taking the piss out of himself more than me, I don't know if that is meant, but that's what it looks like. Admitting to the lazy formulaic way his 'comedy' works, long meaningless sentences with pointless swearing and references to masturbation.
Drawing a shite picture of someone wanking and writing STEVEN on it is nothing, all he's doing is quoting what I wrote about him and sticking his little Radio Times esque prelude and stuck Andy Crane's disembodied head pointing to his grab-a-reference style.

I hope Charlie meant it to be a self defeating piss take, because that's what it is, go back to doing 'Here's Toby' for Acne or something Charlie, that was funny in a immature 10 year old reading a comic kind of way, genuinely.

"TV Go Home is funny"

Well thanks for proving your opinion with such well argued points, for fucks sake.

As for stealing my opinions, the Corpses hadn't been about for ages throughout the time I was in massive arguments with people. By the time that big TGP argument erupted I had forgotten almost everything the Corpses said on the subject some months before, hence my floundering the face of adversity, I couldn't remember a single point of theirs, I obviously made my own, but less well worded and made with my more naive sense of written argument, that's no crime, and I didn't resort to swearing at Murray and Herring. In fact I didn't even swear at Brooker until he started sticking his vapid swearwording face into the thread.

As far as I can see just because I share their opinion on TV Go Home it's only obvious that if they're just going to stand aside twiddling their thumbs and let me take the brunt of the argument, I'm going to have to use some of their points in my argument.

Err... right. If you laugh, it is funny. So to you it is not, but to him it i r r e f u t a b l y is. No essay is required, and you have all the proof you are going to get without stalking him.

Honestly, Steven, why does everything have to be so intensely intense?

Intense?! Have you seen Phil's demeanor in the other thread?

I expect if I said to you boki that Chris Morris is total crap or something to that effect, you wouldn't try and argue otherwise? Of course comedy is subjective to an extent, I still think - as with music, that you can see where talent and effort has gone in to stuff if you're not keen on the style.

As we've obviously gathered I am far from able to express my opinion very well, and am quite obtuse with it, but Phil still needs to justify his opinion with some proper points.

sorry, I was grabbing a reference, there ;) Where's Rich Herring when you need a joke explaining, eh? (blody hell, those last two sentances are probably the naughtiest I've been since pissing off of a second floor window ledge five years ago)

>I expect if I said to you boki that Chris Morris is total crap or something to that effect, you wouldn't try and argue otherwise? Umm...that's all correct, but I fail to see its pertinence to what I just wrote. The point I'm making is that if somebody says they find something funny, it doesn't necessarily require reams of justification.

Case in point: I read Justin's post to that imaginary cartoons thread during a sneaky coffee-time surf this afternoon and ended up having to explain to the office why I'd burst out laughing at the words 'The Adventures Of Some String' - it just tickled the funny bone instantly and any attempt at in-depth analysis is gonna kill it.

>As we've obviously gathered I am far from able to express my opinion very well, and am quite obtuse with it, but Phil still needs to justify his opinion with some proper points.

I would say he's not going to get anywhere with the abuse, but even in that post in the Barley thread he's given a reason why he doesn't like your style. Anyway, if you two want to meet in the back room of the Melon and Bushell for a bit of aggro you can leave me aatovitArfur.

Posted By Steven on Wed Jan 24 21:13:58 GMT 2001:

Granted boki, even if slightly sarcastically. I find that Adventures of Some String amusing as well, obviously the humour arises from - mundane thing elevated to excitement and importance, but the point I'm making with Brooker fans is, if Justin made a website based around that mundane thing elevated to importance and did it over and over and OVER, would it be funny and require talent? I don't think so, Bar of Soap, Private Eye ... Toothpick of the Yard ... Old Socks in Space .. etc etc etc, it would get very terrible.

But this is not what TVGoHome does... okay, it does it a little bit, but it doesn't go overboard. There's lots of different types of humour used in TVGoHome from outright surrealism to really quite dark satire.

Obviously if the humour in a 'programme' is mainly based on surrealism and the next week there is another surreal programme then you can say that the joke is 'the same' but it's not really. If this is true then all of Monty Python is 'the same'.

Obviously there are limits but I don't personally think TVGoHome oversteps the boundary. The Onion's 'area man' story.. that might be a little different.
