United News and Media have announced that they will not merge with Carlton because it would mean having to sell Meridian to another company.

I think it's bad as Granada will now end up the biggest player in the itv network.
It would have been nice if there was going to be some competition between Granada and a merged Carlton/United company. Oh well [itv] can go down the plughole now for all i care..

Carlton would being the bug headed buggers they are try and run UNM and bugger up all of UNM. UNM wil now get LWT and it'll be a good clean fight
