>Hard to avoid in the late 80s/early 90s... 'Saturday Night at the Movies', 'Whose Line...', 'S&M', every bloody chat/panel show. Pretty annoying, but he had his moments. So what happened? Inevitable reaction to his overexposure? Drugs? Moved to the States?
The last thing I remember him in was playing the vending machine in the final episode of Red Dwarf VIII.
Last thing actually were I saw him in person and not doing vending machine voice overs was Channel 5's medical quiz show, Tibs and Fibbs, where he was the completely unfunny host. The show wasn't that much better, but was good in a rather bad taste way. Mime the disease was always a good round.
>I suppose I could do a web-search but I'm far more likely to get interesting (i.e. scurrilous, unsupportable, vicious) responses in here.

Tony is currently working in a successful production in the West End. I always tip him when I see him working the door. Tony's fantastic. We always get good seats and he'll even get your car for you for a fiver.
Saw him a few years ago in the original stage production of "Neville's Island". He seemed remarkably proud of his 2 second nude scene.
He played a DJ in ITV drama metropolis not too long ago.
He had a rather nasty depression which became a full nervous breakdown, precipitated by the usual showbiz bollocks (i.e. fame & cocaine). He's coming out of it all now, but still taking it easy...

And that was just copying Stephen Fry. So transparent.
A hopelessly unfunny wannabe toff who believed he had bugs under his skin because of all the cocaine he put up his already flared nostrils. Twat.
You've been more than fair Mike. I admire the civilty you have show Mr Slattery.
Tony Slattery once did a sketch about Douglas Bader giving dancing lessons. So he will appreciate people making fun of others' misfortunes.
Drugs, drink. Recently was featured in a Radio 4 programme "Back from the brink" or similar describing this period. One time he stood in his room and started staring at the wall, and when he next looked at his watch 7 hours had passed.
Funny, "Peter's Friends" was like that for me.
Let's share our "Peter's Friends" viewing experiences. I had to leave the room to do a poo shortly after the film began, and then when I returned, I couldn't work out what the fuck was going on. Then Hugh Laurie started "acting." It was great.

He was still better than Slattery though. Even so, almost as appalling as Notting Hill.
I only had to do number onesies during that.
I saw him interviewed on Christine Hamilton's BBC Choice Show - he was very cagy about several things, such as his sexuality. He came across a bit weird.
He was probably thinking, "So, it has come to this..."
About to star in a film being released in the cinema - called the Wedding Tackle, or something equally as crap, and is suppossedly shit - just like almost all british moveies made nowaday, kstarring once famous tv 'talent' - probably
